Really enjoy defining and developing immersive experiences on the web nearly as much as I enjoy the world of photography. The love of both, and that I’ve been able to combine them into my work, is a blessing.
I’ve made a living in doing this via the practical fundamentals of product management, although I’ve a background in interactive media design (MFA from RIT), and photography (BS from Syracuse). I’ve also worked (in the film era) as a photographer and taught digital photography.
These days I am struck by the lightning of inspiration in building BrightQube (alongside some highly talented folks), an online marketplace for visual content. Its intent is to bring the democratized power of creative visual expression to an open exchange where imagery can easily be found by the buyer, yet valued and sold directly by the contributor.
I’ve worked in a few large corporations (not fond of cube farms) as well as a number start-ups, which I greatly prefer. It is an immense pleasure to look back at the day and be able to see what you’ve accomplished (without a thousand meetings). The sheer joy that comes from working with your hands to build something is extremely satisfying.
Online boutique storefronts for independent photographers.
A lot of fun helping define HP’s photo strategy across their product lines.
UK based imaging software company. Sooo nearly acquired by HP. Ouch! not a soft landing but a great ride.
Enjoyed developing the photo site into a customer acquisition/retention service to the Yahoo network. (Long before Flickr arrived on the scene. Different kettle of fish. Yahoo Photos was once larger than Shutterfly, Snapfish and Kodak (Ofoto) put together.)
I happen to join Yahoo in those awkward times just as Koogle left, the comp was mainly in options, and the dotcom implosion left my strike price on options 3x underwater.
Adobe spin out that developed online imaging applications. Makes me laugh today to see Photoshop online. We did that 8 years ago.
Helped develop online imaging applications and brand identity of Kodak.com
Covered Europe, Africa and Middle East, travelling about 9 months of the year. Young turk with ever present Nikons and cigarettes living for the moment. Young, single man’s job, definitely.
BrightQube is the new online creative resource that changes the way the world finds images. BrightQube connects buyers and sellers in an innovative ecommerce platform.
Our unique approach to finding images utilizes the Dynamic Mosaicâ„¢, the innovative, patent-pending technology which allows users to view all image possibilities at once. This makes browsing through hundreds of pages of results a thing of the past.
Though just in soft launch, BrightQube already has nearly 3 million images from over 40 image collections. Later this year, BrightQube will open up onramps to allow anyone to upload, price and sell their images directly.
