I’m a technologist and practitioner in social media with experience in the design and deployment of disruptive telecommunications technologies for business and consumer markets. Lately, I’ve been helping build and run the business behind Socialight, a mobile platform that anyone create communities around location-based content – see http://socialight.com for details.
I co-founded Socialight after receiving a Master’s degree from New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). Prior to ITP, at Vaultus Mobile Technologies I developed and introduced technologies at leading global financial institutions including Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Deutsche Bank. At Vaultus, I also managed several projects with Research in Motion, helping the firm develop and maintain software to enable deployment and system integration for its BlackBerry products.
I also have experience in media production. Early in my career, I served as the producer of a daily program broadcast via an academic closed-circuit television network and I spent summers working with media outlets including CNBC and Bloomberg.
In addition to my Master’s degree, I hold a B.A. in Communications from the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania. My undergraduate thesis explored the potential industry impact of P2P technology before Napster became a dirty word (and subsequently a clean one). In 2005, I helped found the New York chapter of Helsinki-based MobileMonday, an organization that fosters NYC’s mobile industry.
I worked for Katahdin Consulting, which was acquired by Vaultus in 2000.
